I have a 200 gig Maxster drive that's hooked up to a drive enclosure. Yesterday I started getting errors saying that the volume wasn't formatted. when I tried to run chkdsk on it. it reported that the drive volume was in a raw format. I know, it's highly likely that I am going to be screwed but I've been trying to do some reading and I've seen others online reporting that you can get the data out of this with some of the disk utility that are out there.
Any suggestions, Are any of those hard drive utility accessible, the ones I have tried so far haven't been.
thanks

well, the problem is that if you are using an external hard drive data is not reall well stored on it. For backing up your data I recommend the use of dvd's . I am not sure of any disk utilities that might be accessible but once you get data errors it is highly unlikely you can do a successfu recovery. If you want you can try avira's tool for it, which name I forgot, I think it is file commander or something. Now that i remember it is fairly usable with jaws or window eyes.
Cheers
